Introduction
This manual will go through pre-check steps to verify the installation quality of a SigmaGate.
Tools needed
- Wide flat chisel
- Torque wrench with an M6 socket
- 2.5mm & 5.5mm Allen keys
Guide
1. Check master and slave settings & closing times
This chapter is for verifying that the gates have been setup as left and right gate properly. It will also cover a check to make sure the closing times of the gate is setup right.
- To set up the master and slave potentiometer settings on a SigmaGate, locate the below potentiometer dials inside the gate body.
DELAY: This sets the amount of time the gates will stay open after a customer has left through the gates and broke the PEC sensor beam. Range 0-8 seconds. Note: This timer will over ride the secure timer.
WRONG WAY: This timer is used to detect movement through the gates in the wrong direction. Please set to full right to avoid picking up a customers swinging arm. Range 0.1-2 seconds
SECURE: This timer will keep the gates open until the customer has passed through in the gates. Once the customers pass through the gates this timer is gets override by the DELAY timer. Range 0-30 seconds
PANIC FORCE: This dial sets the force required to slide the glass arm back into the body of the SigmaGate
-
On each gate, make the following adjustments:
- LEFT GATE
- Set DELAY, WRONG WAY, SECURE on the left hand gate to maximum/clockwise. (100%)
- Set PANIC FORCE to minimum/anticlockwise (0%)
- RIGHT GATE
- Set DELAY to half way. (50%) (4 seconds)
- Set WRONG WAY to maximum/ fully clockwise. (100%) (2 Seconds)
- Set SECURE to maximum/ fully clockwise. (100%)(30 Seconds)
- Set PANIC FORCE to minimum/ fully anticlockwise. (0%)
NOTE: Turn all the way left (0%) then all the way right (100%) to determine where 50% is.
- LEFT GATE
- Test the closing times by opening and closing the gate using the remote to see if the settings is sufficient for the store.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Permission from Coles must be obtained before making any alterations to the settings.
2. Check glass doors position
This chapter is for checking the glass doors of the sigma gate to make sure they are not getting stuck inside the body. It will also cover how to adjust the glass doors if they get stuck.
2.1 Check if the glass doors is getting stuck inside the body
To verify that the glass door is not getting stuck in the body you will have to look at the glass doors from the side to see if the glass door will get stuck on any of the edges of the out cut on the way out.
- Start by looking at the left-hand side gate to see if there is any distance from the glass door and the metal edge to make sure its not touching it on the way out.
- Make sure to also make sure the glass door isn't getting stuck at the top or at the bottom of the out cut.
- Make sure to check the right-hand side as well.
- If the glass door is touching or getting stuck behind the edge anywhere, please proceed to next chapter to see how to adjust the position of the glass door.
2.2 How to adjust position of SigmaGate glass doors
If the glass doors need to be adjusted, an adjustment screw (Allen screw M3) located on the lower section of the glass door can be adjusted (marked in red below).
- Before adjustment, three M6 nuts need to be loosened (marked in green).
- Adjust the M3 screw to adjust the gate.
- Once you've adjust the gate to your preferred position, tighten the 3 M6 nuts.
3. Check if the photo cells (PECs) are pointing at the reflectors
This chapter is to make sure the two photoelectric cells (PEC) are pointing at the reflectors on the other gate.
Adjust by using 2.5mm Allen keys through holes next to PEC sensor on the outside of gate.
- Turn Allen key all the way LEFT until yellow connection light turns off.
- Turn Allen key all the way RIGHT until yellow connection light turns off, counting the amount of turns in-between.
- Wind Allen key back to mid position.
Important Notes:
- If it takes 6 full turns from left position to right position, then turn back 3 full turns.
- This must be done to both vertical and horizontal directions.
